The Microsoft New Zealand School Agreement has been in place for two years – 2010 and 2011. For the third year (2012),
the Ministry of Education has negotiated a new licensing model enabling greater use and deployment of technology into your school.
This new program is called the Enrolment for Education Solutions (EES).
The new EES agreement includes your current Core product suite with the addition of Apple Mac computers (including use of Office for
Mac and Windows OS Upgrades on school owned or leased Apple Mac computers), the Microsoft Desktop Optimisation Pack, the Microsoft Core
Server Platform, and the ability for students to access school Microsoft servers from their own personal devices. The attached document
provides you with full detail please note:
As with your current Microsoft products, all of the EES products including the new Desktop Optimisation Pack, Core CAL for Students
and Core Server Platform are all subscription products. This means that whilst you do not have to pay for them as you have done in
the past, if at some time the Ministry decides not to renew the Microsoft Agreement, these new products will not be part of the
Ministry‘s buyout price. Your school will be required to either buy out these licenses under a perpetual
model, or de-install the products in use.
Microsoft New Zealand School Enrolment for Education Solutions (EES) Agreement Transition for 2012
What is the Enrolment for Education Solutions Agreement (EES)?
The new EES agreement includes the current Microsoft Core products with the addition of Apple Mac computers
(including use of Office and Windows OS Upgrades on school owned or leased Apple Mac computers), the Microsoft
Desktop Optimisation Pack, the Microsoft Core Server Platform, and the ability for students to access school Microsoft
servers from their own personal devices.
The EES agreement is based on a faculty and student calculation which means you no longer need to report your desktop count.
Core Product for School
Under the EES agreement the core product includes; Office Professional, Windows Upgrade, Core CAL and the Microsoft Desktop
Optimisation Pack (MDOP). This core product for schools covers school owned and leased desktops.
Core CAL for Students
The new Core CAL for Students has been added to allow students to bring their own personal devices into school and connect
to school Microsoft servers. Please note that students are not personally covered for Microsoft Office or the Microsoft
Windows Operating System under this program. Licensing of these products still remains the students own responsibility.
(See below for full list of inclusive products).
Core Server Platform for Teachers and Students
A new feature for schools included in the EES is the Core Server Platform. This includes unlimited use of the Microsoft
servers, as noted below, at no additional cost and provides a broader platform from which to launch new solutions.
Please Note:
As with your current Microsoft products, all of the EES products including the new Desktop Optimisation Pack, Core CAL for
Students and Core Server Platform are all subscription products. This means that whilst you do not have to pay for them as you
have done in the past, if at some time the Ministry decides not to renew the Microsoft Agreement, these new products will not be
part of the Ministry‘s buyout price. Your school will be required to either buy out these licenses under a perpetual model,
or de-install the products in use.

licensing model, you will automatically receive a credit for the period 1 January – 31 December 2012. For those of you have recently
placed orders under the Microsoft New Zealand School Agreement but not received an invoice because your product is now included in the
new licensing model, these orders will not be actioned.
As you will appreciate there are a large volume of credits and rebilling to generate so please bear with us. We anticipate that the
credits will be completed by 30 March 2012. However, if you believe you are due a credit but have not received one by this date please
contact us at nzschools@datacom.co.nz.
For Non-Core products you are using outside of the new licensing model, you will still receive an invoice for the 2012 year.
If you require new or additional Non-Core product outside of the new licensing model, you will need to place a purchase order
as usual. Windows Remote Desktop Services CALs still require a purchase by you, the school. Additional Application products
such as Project and Visio are now able to be ordered in unit quantities rather than in the same quantity as your desktop count.
Actions
For ease of use, an electronic form as been created where you can accept the new EES agreement.
Two simple steps:
1. Click on the link in email.
2. Complete this electronic form if you are an Independent school
    OR
Complete this electronic form if you are a State school
The electronic form acceptance replaces you having to print, sign, scan and send back the attached Consortia Participant
Agreement Form. You accept the EES agreement by completing and submitting the electronic form.
What is the Consortia Participation Agreement Form?
The attached Consortia Participation Agreement form is for your reference only. This is the form that would usually be
completed under the EES program but the Ministry of Education has provided agreed detail on your behalf. Detail noted under section 2. a-i, may raise some
questions with you. Again please be assured that all of these requirements have been taken care of by the Ministry on your behalf
What Happens Next?
Once your EES agreement is processed, a new enrolment number will be created and Microsoft will notify your school’s contact.
You are free to download and use any additional product as noted in this communication without payment and at any time prior to receiving your new enrolment number.
Please note that if you do not accept the new licensing model via the electronic form, your current Microsoft New Zealand School Agreement will expire.
Access to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Services
The contacts in your current Microsoft agreement will be transferred to your new EES enrolment number. This means that you do not need to re-register for the Microsoft
Volume Licensing Services site to access your Software Assurance Benefits, digital downloads, volume license keys etc. Again this is done on your behalf.
